"Shapes in the Fire" is the title of a book of Victorian Gothic fantasy stories by M.P. Shiel, first published in 1896. This album takes inspiration from different elements of this book, but not in a literal sense. In fact I have only read one of the stories in the book; it was the evocative title and the mysterious names of the stories that moved my imagination to create an ambient synth soundtrack for a non-existent film. In order to create the track sequencing I created an imaginary order of events and visions to describe the musical scenes:

9. Triumph Over the Dark Realm: Concerto for a Forgotten Age
10. Theme Revisited: Shapes in the Fire (Coda)
